Me and My Shadow! You want a GREAT DOG who knows how to COOK? Schipperke Young - Adoption, Rescue for sale in Corona, California

Me and My Shadow . . . . thats our boy. just so full of love and goodness. When he smiles at me, I get goosebumps as I remember how petrified he was when we took him in the sanctuary. He did not even know how to eat. "If I could tell you that you did not deserve how you were treated, and your heart could understand that those were bad people that harmed you, then I am happy." And, I pray with our love, lots of toys, and having you at my side as we cook chicken, made just for you and of course the other dogs, that you now understand the world is not all bad. You are a little love bug, and deserve the best family ever. He loves to play with his friend Stardust, but I think he needs a quiet house, not lots of kids and commotion. He's only 1 1/2 years old but he's a special little boy, and his favorite time is sleeping in your arms every night. Sometimes he just reaches over to me and kisses me. I kiss him back, hold him, and we dream together.

Please adopt him, he needs his own family. Check out Stardust too if you want two friends, or work a lot, as these two can entertain each other for hours.

Info on his breed:

The Schipperke, Belgium's "little captain," is the traditional barge dog of the Low Countries. Curious, lively, and intense but mischievous, this little black dog is a robust, long-lived companion for whom there is never a dull moment.

Standing no higher than 13 inches, Schipperkes are small dogs built for hard work. Schips were created as ratters and watchdogs. Their powerful jaws, necks, and forequarterscoupled with a stealthy, catlike hunting stylemake them ideal rat-catching machines. The black coat is profuse around the neck, shoulders, and legs, giving the breed a silhouette that accentuates a thick, substantial body. The foxy face completes the unique look of a unique breed. If you cant tell a Schipperke from an ordinary dog, you simply havent been paying attention.

Schnauzer:
They are protective and energetic, and will alert members of the household to any potential danger, although its watchful nature can lead to persistent barking.[11] To avoid annoying the neighbors, dog owners should make every effort to curb excessive barking through training.[12] The breed is of above average intelligence and can be independent minded, so early training and diverse daily exercise is recommended.[13]

Schnauzers have distinctive beards and long, feathery eyebrows. They are generally either a salt and pepper color, black, or white, but they can be brown also. Some owners shave their Schnauzers down the back while the hairs on their legs are kept long and curly, but this changes the coat colour, so show schnauzers especially will have their back coat "stripped" by hand, to encourage the salt and pepper pattern to emerge. It was traditional to have the tails docked and the ears cropped to give an alert appearance. It was common to crop the ears and dock the tails on working dogs. As these are ratters, these procedures don't give the rat anything to grab on to when being attacked and therefore cannot fight back. Cropping and docking are now illegal in the European Union, Australia and New Zealand, and are becoming less common elsewhere. The schnauzer's beard and leg hair should be brushed often to prevent mats from forming.

Schnauzers have a double coat. The top or guard coat is wiry, while the undercoat is soft. Stripping removes the undercoat and stimulates the hard top coat to come in fuller. The undercoat coat should be "stripped" (loose, dead hair is plucked) at least twice a year. A stripped schnauzer will have a hard wiry coat as described in the breed standard. A shaved pet will lose the hard top coat and only exhibit the soft undercoat.[14] Schnauzers are a type of dog that sheds less often than most dogs, and are also hypoallergenic.
